Mobilink, Warid Telecom, Zong, and Ufone, well-known mobile phone service providers in Pakistan, are now offering Golden, Platinum and Diamond Phone Numbers. What are they? What do they do for the cell phone service customers and for the Pakistan mobile phone service providers? Who can buy them? Where can they make those numbers ring? First, they are not virtual phone numbers and cannot be used over direct inward dialing on SIP services.
They are phone numbers that are easy to remember such as 0300 2 777777, such as when noted on billboards as we drive down the highway. Potential and current customers are more likely to call the numbers because of the repetition of digits and patterns of digits that are memorable. This means, the mobile phone service provider is very likely to keep the customer who owns the special phone number, unless porting is easy in Pakistan from one provider to another. It also means the receiver of the call, whether that receiver is an organization or individual, is very likely to get more phone calls from those who are important to them ... friends, customers, vendors, and such. Only those in Pakistan can buy the phone numbers. The phone numbers will ring only to the cell phone that the service provider is providing service on ... Mobilink, Warid Telecom, Zong, Ufone, and others.
Will people outside of Pakistan call these special phone numbers to reach the owner? Very unlikely! What might be a better way to get people outside of Pakistan to call businesses and individuals in Pakistan? Virtual phone numbers that are local to the caller!
What are the arguments against Pakistan (or any country) mobile phone service providers making available for sale international phone numbers to their customers? One, the customers may use them for fraud. Everything on Earth can be used for fraud. Does that mean we should stop using everything? Two, this may make Pakistan mobile phone service providers lose revenue. What? Show me how.
When the Pakistan mobile phone service providers start offering USA, UK, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan and other international phone number to their customers, new revenue is generated increasing ARPU and customer retention.
When cell phone service customers in Pakistan buy international phone numbers from their provider, they will have phone numbers that are local to the people who are important to them. Who are important people to you and me that are in other countries? They could be current or potential family, friends, customers, vendors, organizations and so on.
Example: would a global warming research scientist B at NASA GISS be more likely to call another research scientist A at the Institute of Environmental Studies Past Events - University of Karachi on Professor A's Karachi special phone number or her Huntsville, Alabama phone number? Professor B knows that Professor A works the University of Karachi, but wouldn't he be more likely to call the USA phone number?
As insignificant as the digits in a phone number may seem, the DID (direct inward dialing ... phone number)is very powerful. Mobile phone service operators are not taking advantage of what people and organizations really need to connect, grow and succeed ... making available international phone numbers. No one loses. Everyone gains the potential to discover new revenue, opportunities and success.
We can apply this discussion to any country's mobile phone service providers? Want your cell phone company to offer you international phone numbers? Ask yours to sign up at http://www.didx.net and find out more.

I Want QUALITY, Who Cares about QUANTITY?
First, this blog post is not targeted at one person. It is targeted at every person who puts QUANTITY ahead of QUALITY. It does not work, you all! It does not work.
Why is there this mad rush for quantity? Am I right? Large quantities of people surround you, pushing you, expecting you to amass large quantities of:
1. Twitter followers
2. Facebook friends
3. Multi-tasking at work and play
4. Cell phones
5. Social networking memberships
6. Sales leads
7. How MANY INSTANT MESSENGER WINDOWS can you have going at one time?
8. How MANY services and products can your company provide at one time?
9. Let's see how many projects you can take part in at one time for your company?
Results: NO QUALITY! This is my rant for this month. Those who choose QUANTITY. I am not sorry to say, I do not. I choose QUALITY.
I'm going to run a quality 3 miles in my neighborhood, I'll make a quality cup of coffee with just a little sugar, and I will dig into my quality calls, emails, projects, press releases, website debugging, award applications, HR training, new hosted rebranded client contracts, work for global conferences, etc. etc. etc.
QUALITY! Does everybody hear me? Love y'all. Gotta run!

Conference Swag that Lives on, Mobile Purses
![]() |
| Mobile Pouches are a Hit for Advertising |
Believe me, our company has tried all kinds of swag conference giveaways from DIDX or Virtualphoneline booths at conferences around the world. Top 4 with the first one as the most popular to least.
1. Mobile pouches, useful, look great!
2. Coffee mugs
3. T-shirts
4. Pens
When we have success in any way in business, we at Super Technologies, Inc. are ready to share the idea, process, plan, or whatever it is. We believe in the open source type sharing and contribution by and among all. So... we offer to you the opportunity to order mobile pouches from our connection at Handycrafts. They are $2.99 (USD) each, but if you place the order and say that you want them to say real tiny somewhere "powered by DIDXchange" and that you heard about it either on Suzanne's Blog or the DIDX blog (say which please), then we'll cover the $2 cost and your final cost will be only $.99 cents (USD) each. They are beautiful.
You can order at sales@handycrafts.net. If you don't get an answer within one business day, message me on FACEBOOK. Click my Facebook profile in the upper-right corner of this blog.

Mary Anne Tolention's Facebook, Nokia or iPhone?
Want to eavesdrop?
Copy of Mary Anne Tolentino's Facebook wall discussion on Nokia or iPhone...
Mary Anne Tolentino... someone told me Texting in iphone is quite challenging. I tested it a few days ago in the apple store, medyo hard nga....easier with N97. Ergo, I need to decide will it be N97 or Iphone 3GS? Of course iphone looks sexier :)

Eric Tiongson... If texting is that important, I'd suggest the N97. :-) I'm using an E71 and I can't imagine doing as much typing as I do on an iPhone.

Mary Anne Tolentino... voice calls, SMS, email very impt, internet sufing, FB of course, video, camera those are the impt stuff I use it for. Not music, mauubos battery agad. Another consideration is, can I get a spare battery at once? mpt for me. cant wait to have it charged before i use it again.

Eric Tiongson... iPhone's cannot have their battery replaced, so usability-wise N97 is looking good for you. :-)
Catch though is that if you don't get an iPhone from Globe now, you might not get one in the next 2 years. Whereas Nokia's can be purchased anytime anywhere.

PortaOne's 24/7 NOC Answer for DIDX Client
This is a thank you note to PortaOne from me and our DIDX team. Recently the 24/7 NOC at PortaOne came to the rescue for a client of ours. They are a little different from others in the industry in that they allow their clients to make any modifications in their code for your own use. (Just can't sell it, obviously.) After successfully completing the project for the client, a nice surprise was the interop compatibility that resulted. Portaone will soon post this in their documentation pages.
Listen to an interview between me Suzanne Bowen of DIDX and Roman Khalenkov of PortaOne at DIDX, PortaOne Record a Podcast to Discuss the Unique Advantages of PortaSwitch: Source Code, 24/7 Technical Support and Maintenance.
We will both be at ITEXPO West Sept 1-3, 2009, with PortaOne at booth 427 and DIDX at booth 125. ITEXPO West in Los Angeles looks like one of the best IP communications meetups. We must see you there, too!

High Engagement Equal Better Revenue Growth and Bigger Market Share
What does this mean in every day language? No matter how cool your IP communications or other business mash-up, invention, business idea, or service is... if you do not think that taking time to talk and communicate with your team members, especially management, is important, via email, IM, voice, and video (a combination is best), you will not make as much as money nor grow your market as big and well as if you did take the time.
You cannot just dictate to everyone regarding every minute detail of work what will be done and how it will be done.
What was that again? "High engagement equal better revenue growth and bigger market share," says DHL's vice president of human resources Richard Hediger
In fact, leaders in a company who communicate with their team on a regular and meaningful basis, are the best of leaders. This is one of the best ways to keep GOOD employees. When you avoid voice conversations, face to face conversations and DO NOT allow any discussion of issues that will have an important impact on the employees, customers and suppliers, you are basically telling your team that they are do not matter, you don't care if they stay, and you are living in "La Dee Da" land.
Note to self: Think about this extremely important wise saying by DHL's vice president of human resources Richard Hediger and put it to work, Suzanne.

Social Media Marketing Mistakes Debate
Good job, Pam Lontos and Maurice Ramirez, Ph.D! They are the authors of "The Top 5 Mistakes of Social Media Marketing." What do you think?
Summary:
1. Have one image of yourself (brand) broadcast across the different SMM Internet platforms. I admit that I do have a different picture in a few places: Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, Hi5, Plaxo, etc. and when I get a chance I'll streamline the profile pics, but it should be me, not what someone else wants me to be. I would never tell you what you should be. Besides, here ... I think image ... is mental, not physical (visual).
2. Don't just collect people. Make each relationship meaningful. Doesn't mean you have to be BFF with every single one, but know who they are and interact occasionally in ways that help you both.
3. Make your Facebook updates and Tweets, etc. helpful to your readers and observers and those interacting with you. Actually I disagree a bit with them on this item. They state saying something like this for a Tweet, "I'm watching a movie and eating popcorn," might not be a good idea. I think a little personal information mixed in with your commercial messages make us all fit a bit more connected. Maybe be a little more specific... like, "I'm watching Yes Man and eating some lime salted popcorn." Hmm... I might go watch that and try that popcorn, and I realize you are just as human as I am. I feel a bit more ... connected? ;-)
4. Posting inappropriate messages. Be as conservative as your most conservative client. Wait! There's such a thing as being boring and too safe. Be a bit of a risk taker. Be a little bit yourself. That's my opinion. Okay, so never post anything you wouldn't want your grandmother to see? What goes through my head is... what would I be willing to share with my Dad who is a preacher for the church of Christ. He's pretty funny himself and quite down to earth even though this particular church is known to be very conservative. Well, he's not my client, but he's a good measure of what's appropriate for me.
5. The last one... If you have something that is important to you to say and you think others can benefit from it, post it somewhere it feeds into all your social media marketing platforms you use. Ping.fm does a pretty good job at this. Facebook newsfeed can go automatically to Plaxo, etc.
I was thinking of a few more:
1. Making too many rules for those who follow you, add you, or want to befriend you. That's so negative, like I don't do NDAs or anyone who Tweets too much is off my network, or I don't accept people who don't add the TM mark on marks that require it.
2. Adding everyone, accepting everyone into your networks, even though you totally do not support their image. I.e., those who are constantly proselytizing their religion, politics, lifestyle or who put their company commercials on your wall without a real business relationship to begin with. You can say, "No." You can delete. You can block. You have the right. So I guess I do have a few rules.
You probably do, too. Debate is welcome as always!
Again, what do you think?

Judge Businesspeople by Action not Appearance
Some male friends from Cameroon just emailed me this award press release, and the best part about it is Janhavi Dhariwal's words, "It is not at all tough for a woman to make a mark in the society today provided ... They should not be judged by their attires but by the work they do."

Blackberry Numero Uno for 2008
Though Apple Inc.’s iPhone topped Research in Motion Ltd.’s BlackBerry as the domestic smartphone leader for the last half of 2008, RIM has climbed back to the No. 1 position. The BlackBerry Curve was the No. 1 selling smartphone in the United States in the first quarter of 2009. Get more info.
Digging into my archives of case studies and articles on innovative www.didx.net members, I found DIDX Members Leverage the Blackberry.
"One recent client SACS, an international steel trading company with 14 locations worldwide and 200 business clients, already had a Cisco unified communications backbone for their IP PBX with integration of RIM (Research in Motion) Blackberry MVS (Mobility Voice Suite)."

Hiccups here, but Collaboration Rocks in IP Communications
I had a few hiccups in the last six months which I determined not dwell on much: dislocated shoulder (work travel injury), car wreck resulting in totaled car and minimal injuries, and surprising company changes and experiences.
But I'm back on stronger than ever, loving your and our global industry of IP communications!
I'm not really everywhere, but I do recognize certain professional qualities and features among global IP communications-related companies and those who can help them:
Honesty
Collaboration
Integrity
Excellence in customer service
Innovative but at the same very practical services and products
Global reach
Ability to explain anything well, keeping in mind a variety of learning styles, and those who speak ESOL
Ability to use criticism of one's company to better one's company
Thanks for the nice compliments, Jaymie Scotto & Associates: http://www.jaymiescotto.com/jsablog/2009/03/31/jaymie-scotto-podcast-interview-by-suzanne-bowen-of-didx/.
Super Technologies, Inc. since 1999 has always included in its mission to recognize and encourage companies in our industry who exhibit the qualities listed above.

Gravity Wants to Bring us Down?
More is not always better at work, in love, in money, in sex, in food, in drink, in anything. Even if the glass is half empty, at least there's something there. Make the best of it. Lesson to self and anyone else who cares to read... ;-)
Watch the video, read the lyrics, and add on your Facebook if you like!
Gravity
By John Mayer
Gravity
Is working against me
And gravity
Wants to bring me down
Whoa I'll never know
What makes this man
With all the love
That his heart can stand
Dream of ways
To throw it all away
Whoa Gravity
Is working against me
And gravity
Wants to bring me down
Oh twice as much
Ain’t twice as good
And can't sustain
Like one half could
It's wanting more
It's gonna send me to my knees
instrumental
Oh twice as much
Ain’t twice as good
And can't sustain
Like one half could
It's wanting more
It's gonna send me to my knees
Oh gravity
Stay the hell away from me
Oh gravity
Has taken better men than me
Now how can that be?
Just keep me where the light is
Just keep me where the light is
Just keep me where the light is
C’mon keep me where the light is
C’mon keep me where the light is
C’mon keep me where keep me where the light is

Does Someone Keep Stomping on Your Ant Pile?
Ever know you and your team at work are just on it, pumping out great services and solutions so well together almost as if it were all choreographed by angels?
Like...
And then...
Talk with your team about why? And do you want to prevent it? Does it get in the way of progress or make way for new ideas? Do you know that the crazy people who stomp on your ant pile are actually maybe helping you to not get too comfortable? But if it is done too often, doesn't it take minutes, maybe years off your life and lead to high blood pressure and headaches? Do we all take turns doing it to each other at work? (I'm laughing here, sorry.) Ok, Suzanne! Back to work!

Seize the Moment by friends of Suzanne Bowen
Suzanne is not able to type for at least a week which must feel like one of the worst punishments she could have. She is a good writer and loves to write. She thrives on accomplishment, doing the right thing, and getting as many right things done as possible with quality performance. She's her worst critic, too; believe us on that one. (One of us typing this post for her is her ex-student Teonia Burton.)
But since she can't write this week (the doctors say), we will write for her, her friends. Her husband Michael Bowen just gave her a wonderful book for Christmas The Last Lecturer by Randy Pausch.
The book's words remind us very much of Suzanne.
You will often hear Suzanne say things like:
"Time is more important than money."
"All we have is time."
"Seize the moment."
"When you write, write as if you want everyone on earth to understand the meaning, not just the intelligentsia or the morons, but those and everyone in in between."
"When all hell breaks loose, smile and think of your mom and dad or your new grandchildren."
"Look for the best in everybody."
"Don't let them see you sweat. In other words, care but don't care too much."
"Stop wasting your time complaining and get to work."
"Make friends with your competitors and collaborate with them in business."
"If I have to talk on the phone, I might as well be walking around the park (for exercise and fresh air) at the same time. This way I will give the guy or gal on the other end my complete attention. Yikes, but they will probably wonder why I'm breathing so hard."
Perhaps we'll write for her again this week in as close to her "voice" as possible. "Grab that there moment, y'all," as we say in the Deep South.
* She has a business travel injury that resulted in tears in her shoulder muscles and dislocated right shoulder. But, believe us, she'll be back at work Monday Dec. 29, 2008 sharp at 7 AM or earlier when her doctor says that she can.

Win an iPod Touch at Vendorrate.com
Just in time for the holidays... oh, that's true. This post is written on Nov. 18, 2008. Which holidays? Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Eid-Ul-Adha ...
Two ways to win an iPod Touch in November for someone special.
1. Rate a vendor
Submit a rating this month to be entered to win a 16GB Apple iPod Touch in your Members Only promotion at Vendorrate.
2. Refer the most colleagues to use Vendorrate!
It's simple, the 2 members who refer the most colleagues in November each win a 16GB iPod Touch.
Have your colleagues use this referral code or your own after you sign up and rate your first vendor: GKHCHDQT or send them this link: http://www.vendorrate.com/r/GKHCHDQT
Good luck! I think this is a great idea.

jaxtr in the works: Jaxtr Wins an AlwaysOn Global Top 250 Award
jaxtr in the works: Jaxtr Wins an AlwaysOn Global Top 250 Award...
Everyone I know, family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances has so much fun using Jaxtr. Their business tool is really catching on, too.
I've visited the Jaxtr headquarters a few times in my rounds of the coolest voip companies around, and I have to tell you, the excitement among the employees (really a team) is catching. How do they do it?
