Using Skype and Truphone to Share Ironman Results

We were live on http://www.wfxg.com (mentioned on Twitter) at the Ironman 70.3 Augusta, Georgia Triathlon. I am mega-sunburnt. Times for the some of the people from Pensacola in our group and I'm proud of all of them. I'm on Skype now and with others using Truphone on my Nokia E71 (AT&T) with others (in the USA and abroad) discussing the event and results.

Wow, and I thought I was cool when I finished my first marathon in 2007 in 5 hours... a 1/2 Ironman? 1.5 miles swimming usually in a river or the ocean, 56 miles on a bike and a 13.1 mile run.

Talk with Pensacola Race Management for more information about training with F.A.S.T. (running), with Mere Mortals (bricks), and so on for good planning for your own triathlons and running races.

You're an Entrepreneur and Need a VoIP Expert?

I recommend Max Glucksmann of Comtel Networks. You can reach him on Facebook among his business network there. He will be able to provide you with several global company references including our company. He has resolved problems or created solutions involving fax, SMS, DID, DIDX API and interop, and more.

Message in Spanish for beginners who want to start a voip business and to use DIDX for DID needs:

Saludos,
Max Glucksmann

JCMex's Vanita Suzanne Behind AsterConference Success

Vanita Suzanne and ? (please help me find the first lady's name) organized the Asterisk Pavilion at the CommunicAsia in Singapore 2009 with 12 exhibitors and 13 sponsors such as Digium, Sangoma, intuit system integrators, OpenVox, Aruba, JCMex (certified Digium partner with over 180 distribution points across Asia), Adheva, Redfone, snom, Polycom, DQM Corporation, Xorcom, WFR and more. Last year 2008, AsterConference was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Plans for 2010 include more recognition for Asterisk Pavilion. CommunicAsia does not have a VoIP Pavilion; therefore, the Asterisk Pavilion is a great way to get attention in one location from interested parties for telecommunications and unified communications. It's an example of something I preach ongoing: "Collaborate with your competitor."

Your Mindset Determines Social Media Use or Not

Your answers to the following questions determine what is the best way for you to use social media that you feel comfortable with, whether you are a software developer, drama queen, social butterfly, creative geek, business consultant, entrepreneur (serial or not)... Do you think people are basically good? Evil?

Do you want to change the world? Do you want to take over the world? Or you like it the way it is? Or do you think it is past hope? Or you don't care, you're just in it for whatever money you can make out of it?

Do you like to be the center of attention and your interaction tends to be one-sided... you talking and them listening? Do you tend to feel vain or modest? Do you notice more what other people are doing as opposed to what you are doing? Do you just want to observe and study? Do you like to take risks, love challenges?

Or do you prefer everything being as predictable as possible? Does eclecticism inspire you or do you want to only associate with sameness always? Cookbook approach or hodge podge or carefully constructed but constantly changing based on ongoing research? Answers to these questions, truthful answers will enlighten you.

Can you name popular social and/or business networkers and accurately state how they use and why they use social media the way they do? I'm sure you can. Check out these in different industries who use social media and are quite popular with certain groups of people: Geoff Livingston, Mari Smith, Jeff Pulver, Guy Kawasaki, Rich Tehrani, Tinu Abayomi-Paul, Om Malik, Jehan Ara, Nakagawa Shouko, Afrigator, Tariq Mustafa, Lance Armstrong, Jean Wyclef, and so on.

I'm looking forward to some discussions and debates here, on Facebook, Twitter, for podcasts and also in person at 4G World, CTIA Wireless and Entertainment, IIT's VoIP Conference, ITU Telecom World, and SUPERCOMM on many social networking, technical and business development mix of topics.

Encourage Others to Do Unto You

Have you ever heard people answer you with the excuse, "Look you wimp, this is just business"? They are right. There are many ways of doing business, but two main ones. You and I choose to do unto others before they do unto us or do unto others as we'd have them do unto us. As sappy as it sounds, I prefer and usually do the second no matter how cut-throat the other person is. In fact, this is one of the points I emphasized in my "Global Collaboration with Social Media for Business" presentation at ITEXPO West last week.

In fact if you do enough unto others as you would have them do unto you, eventually they will do unto you what they would have you do unto them. I've been experimenting with this concept all my life since my atheist turned Christian minister Dad instilled it into me.

We are in the IP communications industry that is in the mix of the rest of the world, right? We do benefit if we do not give up on encouraging others to do unto us as they would have us do unto them. There are some great tools that let you do that: face to face, yes... but also Facebook wall and friend suggestion, Linkedin answers and recommendations, TelecomYou's newness, your blog, Twitter RT, #, and @ and... Ask Diana at IPiFony. She agrees with me.

You can watch most of my presentation on Viddler.com under the ID suzannebowen. May the force be with you, but do something nice today like collaborate with your competitor?
