How to Get 24/7 WiFi No Matter Where You are on iPod Touch, asks Husband

My social network on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and other offline and online groups are full of mobile experts, so ... my husband is asking: "FB universe, especially those with iPod Touch players...I love the apps I can download, WiFi capability, etc. But it's a bummer in an area where free WiFi network doesn't exist or is impossible to connect. Anyone know of a WiFi "card" which could plug into the input at the bottom? Please don't tell me to purchase an iPhone, I'm not ready to part with my cell provider...yet."
