News:- Int’l Conference on eMarketing at 9th ITCN Asia 2009 Int’l Exhibition and Conferences was inaugurated by Jehan Ara President, Pakistan Software Houses Association on 13th August,2009 at Level 1, Karachi Expo Centre.
The conference was co-chaired by Sohail Aziz, Vice President, Marketing Association of Pakistan. S. Masood Hamid Ali, General Secretary, Marketing Association of Pakistan.
Yahoo, Eyeblaster and Mobilius in collaboration with Google and DidXchange are the sponsors of the conference.
The Speakers of “An Overview of eMarketing” were Dr. Irfan Ahmed, Yahoo – UAE and Suzanne Bowen, DIDXchange USA. The Moderator of Panel Discussion on “Effective use of Internet to Generate Business via Online Content” was Dr. Irfan Ahmed, Yahoo – UAE. The panelists were Musadiq Sanwal of Dawn Internet, Mushtaq Ahmed of Business Recorder, Monis Rehman of Rozee.pk, Salman Khalid of SMEDA and Syed Ammar Yasir of Tea Break.

As an ex-English teacher, I love playing with words and combinations of words (also known as neologisms) in any language, and 'multichannel netvertizing' is a good one you created and shared with us today on email. We can't wait to start promoting ITCN Asia. Past ITCN Asia events have given many wonderful lifetime memories and business relationships.

Nihari, Telecom Billboards, and Empowerment of Internet
Thanks to Viddler.com, we were finally able to upload a copy of my presentation given at ITCN Asia 2008 in Karachi, Pakistan where 127,000 individuals attended and around 200 exhibited. I was definitely excited about the opportunity to speak among Asia's brightest telecom, government, technology-related minds.
Pakistan is a trend-setter in telecommunications. Its Wateen provides countrywide WIMAX, the first in the world to do this. PTCL offers countrywide IPTV, another world first. The price of a call to the USA from a Pakistan cell phone is around 1 cent per minute and SMS is commonly used, included in your package. Ufone, Chinamobile (I used Zong while there, great deal), Mobilink, and other cell phone services offer more services at lower rates than any cell phone services in the United States.
While in Pakistan, I visited with each of these companies at their offices as well as Telenor, Telecard, Hazara Telecom and more.
My stop in Pakistan was one of many stops around the world in August 2008 where my goals were to visit current and potential clients, suppliers, and the world's telecommunications think tank. Next time, I'm bringing my colleagues Steve Cayona, Anna Hollis, Sergey Okhapkin, and Lisa-anne Routley and any of the others who are ready for a global trip.

Prosthetic Upper Limb and a Ball Cap at ITCN Asia 2008
A previous blog on Bionic Arms, Ministry of IT and Telecom at ITCN Asia 2008, I referred to the wrong university research project (SSUET's). Please enjoy the following video from NUST students!
The hand was actually designed for limb amputees and did not require an actual hand to imitate, it in fact was an attachment for people who have lost their hands. A connection is setup between a ballcap on the head and the prosthetic so that the movement of the head determines the movement of the prosthetic. Meet Ghazanfar Ahmed, Asterisk Pakistan at ITCN Asia 2008
I hope to interview Ghazanfar Ahmed (CTO) and his brother (CEO) of their company on video this week and will add to this post at that time. They have been a part of the global Asterisk development for several years. The first time I heard about Ghazanfar and his brother was when they were in their early teens, very bright.

Bionic Arms, Ministry of IT/Telecom and IPTV in Pakistan?
At 1:48 AM CST on Aug, 16, 2008, I am revising the post below with this update... i mixed up NUST project of prosthetic upper limb exhibited at ITCN Asia 2008 in August 2008, with that of the bionic hand presented by students of SSUET a year ago. The bionic hand was actually designed for limb amputees and did not require an actual hand to imitate. It in fact was an attachment for people who have lost their hands. The video I created this past week of the prosthetic upper limb by NUST students was created using either my mobile or my business partner's mobile in hall 3 of the ITCN expo center. I am trying to locate that video.
At 1 AM CST on Aug 16, 2008, I added this post.
Not everyone can take time to leave their office to travel the world and learn from others face to face. I'm taking my office with me in the form of my Nokia e61i with its versatile GSM network and capability of using Shozu, Facebook, Youtube, Blogger, Gizmo5, Google Search, Email, and more through the EMEA region. I'm visiting with friends and customers and making new ones of each, too. I'm learning some French, Urdu and Japanese while I'm at it.
One stop is Karachi, Pakistan at ITCN Asia 2008. Let me share with you several of my discoveries... examples: bionic arms, an interview with the secretary of the ministry of information technology and telecommunications of Pakistan, and a presentation by the CEO of PTCL who is rolling out Pakistan's first IPTV service this past week .
